Imperial County Planning & Development Services

The Planning Commission’s functions are as follows:

Periodic review and revision of the General Plan whenever necessary.

• Implement the General Plan, goals and objectives through actions including, but not limited to, the administration of sepcific plans, zoning and subdivision ordinance.

• Annual review of the capital improvement program (CIP) of the county and the local public works of other local agencies for their consistency with the County’s General Plan, pursuant to Article 7 (commencing with Section 65400) of the California Government Code.

• Endeavor to promote public interest in, and comment on applicable General Plan amendments, and understanding of the General Plan, and regulations relating to it.

• Consult and advise with public officials and agencies, public utility companies, civic leaders, educational institutions, professional, and other organizations, and citizens generally concerning implementation of the general plan.

• Promote coordination of local development plans and programs with the adopted plans and programs of other public agencies.

• Perform other functions as the Board of Supervisors provides, including conducting studies and preparing plans other than those required or authorized by the title.

Besides implementing the County’s General Plan and the Land Use Ordinance, the Planning Commission is also involved with various types of development permits and environmental reviews.

Hearings are held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 9:00 AM in the Board Room at 940 Main St, El Centro, CA 92243.
